Waldo County Technical Center is proud to serve the residents of Waldo County, and is committed to providing quality technical education programs for the high school students of Waldo County.
Students in our programs develop appropriate skills to prepare them for employment and post-secondary education. Through direct application of concepts in projects, students can gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of their subject.
Waldo County Technical Center’s Horticulture and Natural Resources students who are members of the Waldo County FFA chapter attended the FFA State Convention at the University of Maine in Orono on May 6 & 7. They attended Career Development Events, and participated in business meetings and leadership activities during the two day event.
The students won first place in the Floriculture, Nursery / Landscape, Environment / Natural Resources, and Dairy Foods Judging events. They won second place in the Forestry event. Students also won first, second and third places as individuals.
The Floriculture and Environment/Natural Resources teams will be competing at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts in September and at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in October. The Waldo County FFA chapter is looking for funding at all levels to help pay for these trips. Please contact Patrice Janssen at 342-5231 ext 102 for more information.
