Back to Strive

Students in STRIVE will receive instruction in the following: Retail, Business concepts, Math ( fractions, decimals, mastery of the basic four operations, and logic), and Health, and Community Exposure ( field trips, guest speakers, and job placement in the community).

The shop portion of the STRIVE program allows students to learn the basics of wood working and the appropriate use of tool.  Students will be encouraged to build birdhouses, tool boxes, end tables, and playhouses. Individual projects are encouraged in the fourth quarter.

Team building and safety are highly focused attributes of STRIVE.

STRIVE is a program ideal for eigth or ninth graders who would benefit from early exposure to the alternative learning styles that WCTC has to offer. The vast majority of students enter technical programs at WCTC as they get older. Many go on to post-secondary education.

Instruction is focused on NOCTI Workplace Readiness, OSHA, and ServSafe food handler standards.

Students are enrolled in STRIVE through the IEP process.
