Nancy's experience in emergency medicine started in the back-country. She has been administering first aid in the wilderness since the mid 1980's. Her first rescue was on an ice climbing trip in Scotland. From there her passion for the outdoors and wilderness medicine grew. She is an EMT Basic and a Wilderness EMT. As well as teaching EMS at WCTC she is an Instructor for SOLO School of Wilderness Medicine in North Conway, NH where she teaches Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder. Recently Nancy joined the Waldo County Search & Rescue Team and the Unity Ambulance . Students who enroll in the EMS program will gain the skills necessary to sit for the National Registry of Emergency of Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam. In addition, Nancy will give them the opportunity to gain a Wilderness First Responder and AHA CPR certification. Her goal is to introduce students to the scope of opportunities available in the EMS profession. This includes opportunities to visit organizations and bring professionals to campus these may include: Lifeflight, rescue divers, search & rescue professionals, and K9 rescue.
